Working Environments

Working environments are fast-changing and evolving and are very focussed on providing a work environment that is productive, comfortable and encourages positive interaction.  In recent times there has been a strong shift towards open, collaborative workspaces where team members can work together in an organic and fluid way. This open way of working doesn’t suit all personalities and for that reason, it is vital to consider incorporating more functional, traditional workspaces within the design,  so that individuals can step away for the busy environment and comfortably change the situation and remove any distractions.

Ergonomics

Consideration needs to be given to every aspect of the workplace and making it fit your team. That includes the angle of your computer monitor, or the height of your desk. Whether your eyes are strained by the end of the day or if your wrists hurt from typing.  A sound understanding of ergonomics can prevent most workplace injuries and rapidly changing technology in the workplace has greatly increased the need for ergonomics. Desks, chairs, monitors, keyboards and lighting all need to be assessed when creating a workspace.

A balance between sitting and standing needs to be achieved removing the previous sedentary structure of the workplace. You need to consider furniture that is intrinsically ergonomic, intuitive and adjusts to the user.
